ABOUT US
WE CANNOT IGNORE THIS
The Unlost was founded in 2024 by Ken Yoder, Jeanette Smith, and Jessica James with the simple goal of providing a beacon of hope for families and friends of missing persons. This non-profit organization is dedicated to funding field missions to find lost loved ones, offering support to their families, and raising awareness about the ongoing epidemic of disappearances.
HOW TO FIND A MISSING PERSON
Many loved ones of missing persons don’t know where to start, including details on how to find a missing person, how to recover them, and how to ensure that they live a healthy life after their trauma. The Unlost offers the answer.
Give me a detailed overview of the missing persons and human trafficking landscape in the United States. Include the most recent statistics on missing persons and trafficking cases. Then explain the differences between public sector (law enforcement, federal agencies) and private sector (private investigators, nonprofits, security contractors) involvement in recovery efforts. Also outline how missing persons investigations are typically funded in both the public and private sectors, including examples of government funding, nonprofit fundraising, private contracts, and any known grants or philanthropic support.
“We could spend this time to babble on about statistics, the astounding numbers of people going missing, or the social impact of kidnapping and slavery, but with a few simple web searches you can discover those statistics for yourself. Instead, I’ll tell you a story about a case that I worked; The story of a young man who we found… he was dead… and alone. This young man was found in his car with a gun, he had taken his own life, we were too late! That mans’ case haunts me, and it’s just one of millions out there.
– Ken, CEO
We want to give our society a gift, a hope. We are the ones, not only standing between vicious kidnappers and our loved ones, but also confronting the darkness of depression and anxiety that leads to runaways and suicides. We are actively working to dismantle slave rings, study the data of the human trafficking business, and change the way that our society thinks about those who are missing.”

THE UNLOST EXISTS TO FUND MISSING PERSONS INVESTIGATIONS
AND RECOVERY MISSIONS NATIONWIDE
We commit to alleviating the distress experienced by families and individuals dealing with the disappearance of loved ones. Our agents are well-trained and well-equipped, they are passionate about their work and they work tirelessly to bring these loved ones home. Our emotional support advocates will provide a compassionate ear and offer referrals to community services, including therapy and legal assistance. Additionally, the organization will lessen the burdens of government by investigating, researching, and assisting in search and rescue efforts. Your involvement could teach others how to actually find a missing person.
